Senior Director AI & Data Engineering, Optum
About the Speaker:
With 17 years of experience, I specialize in designing, architecting, and implementing scalable AI and data solutions. I’ve delivered transformative initiatives for several Fortune 5 companies, and I now lead Artificial Intelligence and Data Solutions in the healthcare sector at UnitedHealth Group. I also serve as an Independent Advisor on the European Commission’s Horizon Europe program.
I have extensive experience across cloud-based AI and data environments on Azure and AWS, and in recent years have worked with large language models from OpenAI and Anthropic, delivering AI-driven solutions that serve millions of customers.
I am a regular speaker at industry conferences including the World Data Summit, TDWI, DataFest, Graph+AI Summit, PyData Global, and Airflow Summit, and have been featured in Forbes for my work in data engineering. I also write about LLM architectures, scalable AI, and data innovation on my Substack, “”Sailing the Data Ocean.”””
Single-shot evaluation, the shape every current AI eval framework ships, is structurally blind to the failures that take agents down in production: patience that runs out at turn six, users who abandon silently, tool calls that lose conversation state, partial successes that masquerade as wins. This talk argues for a different shape, drawn from the digital twin literature and how the approach is already applied in aerospace, autonomous vehicles, and civil engineering: simulate the population of users your agent will meet, run them against the agent, watch what breaks before any human sees it.
